Four political parties sign eight-point agreement



Kathmandu, March 4: Eight-point agreement has been reached between the four political parties of the newly formed coalition. The Communist Party of Nepal (UML), Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) have agreed on eight different points including cooperation in the government.

Realizing the need for cooperation between the parties who have the same thinking on the issues of good governance, development, social justice and prosperity, it has been agreed to form a new joint government with the participation of four parties and the government will be headed by the Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the agreement reads.

Likewise, the four parties have also agreed to support the candidate of the CPN (Maoist Center) for the vacancy of the Chairman of the National Assembly and the candidate of the CPN (UML) for the Vice Chairman.

It has been agreed to share the ministries by mutual consent among the parties participating in the government. It has been agreed to classify ministries based on their characteristics and to carry out the necessary dialogue with other parties to participate in the process of forming a new joint government.

An agreement has also been reached between the four parties to immediately finalize the transitional justice bill, peace process and other issues related to it in order to maintain permanent peace in the country. Similarly, the parties of the ruling coalition have agreed on the issue of making the government at all levels effective by making the remaining laws related to the implementation of federalism.

It has also been agreed to prepare a common minimum program among the participating parties in the government to guide the government’s policies and programs. It is said that for the implementation of this agreement, the current cabinet will be reorganized and a new joint government will be formed according to the agreement.

The four parties have also agreed to strengthen national independence, sovereignty and geographical integrity and move towards political stability for socialist-oriented economic and social development.

The eight-point agreement was signed by CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav. #Nepal
