
Kathmandu, July 2: The inauguration ceremony of Nagarjun Resort, a four-star deluxe resort, located in Ward No. 3 of Tarkeshwor Municipality, Kathmandu, was held on Tuesday. Nestled in the serene surroundings of Kathmandu, the resort is expected to play a significant role in promoting both domestic and international tourism.
Minister for Forests and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi, officially inaugurated the resort during a special event. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Shahi emphasized the vast potential of such tourism infrastructures and expressed confidence that the resort would attract both local and international visitors, positively impacting the local economy.
He further stressed the importance of properly utilizing forests, reserves, conservation areas, and national parks by linking them with tourism. Minister Shahi highlighted Nepal’s global significance as a prime tourist destination and assured that the government is committed to encouraging private investment and creating an investor-friendly environment.
Spiritual leader Swami Anand Arun, also present at the ceremony, described Nepal as a “golden land for tourism,” emphasizing the country’s ability to offer unique experiences through its natural beauty, cultural diversity, and spiritual tranquility. He remarked that although nature has gifted Nepal immensely, the nation has yet to fully capitalize on it, likening it to “sitting on a gold mine while searching elsewhere for opportunities.”
Tarkeshwor Municipality Mayor Krishna Hari Maharjan, Deputy Mayor Srijana Burlakoti Aryal, and Ward No. 3 Chairperson Parshuram Aryal stated that the resort is a significant addition to the area’s tourism infrastructure.
Renowned chef Govinda Narasingh KC noted that Nepal is fully capable of delivering world-class service to high-end tourists.
Speeches were also delivered by resort operator Niroj Pant, members of the management committee, and other dignitaries. They emphasized that the resort aims to attract more tourists while creating local employment opportunities and benefiting the broader community.
Resort Manager Abhishek Bikram Shah, a renowned name for hospitality management, stated that the facility was established with the goal of contributing to local employment and community development.

Currently, Nagarjun Resort features 65 well-equipped rooms designed to provide high-end accommodation. According to Shah, highlights of the resort include air-conditioned deluxe rooms offering panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley, ample parking space, a dedicated play station for children, easy access to hiking trails up to Kalupande Hill, and a variety of local and international dishes including barbecue, pizza, and momo.
