Damauli, Dec 18: Nepali Congress (NC) General-Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has called for provision for punishment if there was no compliance with the party’s statute.
At a training programme organized by NC constituency no. 1 regional committee at Damauli in Tanahun district on Monday, Thapa viewed that the party should be run according to the statute.
According to him, discussions were ongoing to put such a provision in place in the party.Calling for putting an end to the groupism in the party, Thapa claimed that the factions were being formed in the party at present due to the current system.
Thapa said, “Although we say that the factionalism should be ended, we are enjoying forming factions within the party.” According to him, discussion on electoral law was going to be taken forward in the parliament.
He voiced the need to change the electoral system within the party. “We have taken forward discussion whether the current procedure of distributing tickets to the party cadres and leaders to contest the election was apt or the candidates contesting election from any other local level.”
