Global Qualifier: Nepal lose to Scotland, exit in group stage



Kathmandu, Jan 26: Nepal have exited the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier after suffering a defeat to Scotland in their final group-stage match. In the match played today at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal were beaten by 72 runs by Scotland.

Chasing a target of 141 runs, Nepal were bowled out for just 68 runs in 13.5 overs. Roma Thapa top-scored for Nepal with an unbeaten 14 runs.

Bindu Rawal scored 14 runs and Rubina Chhetri added 10, while none of the other batters managed to reach double figures.

For Scotland, Abtaha Maqsud claimed a match-high three wickets. Katherine Fraser and captain Katherine Bryce took two wickets each, while Rachel Slater and Olivia Bell picked up one wicket apiece.

Earlier, after being sent in to bat first, Scotland were all out for 140 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Priyanaz Chatterji was the top scorer with 45 runs, followed by Elsa Lister with 22, Sarah Bryce with 18, Megan McColl with 17, and Rachel Slater with 11.

For Nepal, Manisha Upadhyay took four wickets, while Rubina Chhetri claimed three wickets. Riya Sharma, Sita Rana Magar, and Kavita Joshi took one wicket each.

With this loss, Nepal concluded their group-stage campaign with one win and three defeats from four matches, finishing fourth in Group B with two points. Scotland, meanwhile, advanced to the Super Six stage with four points from the same number of matches. #nepal #cricket
