Kathmandu, April 29: President of the Global Tourism Forum, Bulut Bagci, has said Nepal could attract significant foreign direct investment (FDI) in tourism and infrastructure through global engagement and strategic promotion.
Speaking to media person in Kathmandu, Bagci said the Forum is planning to organise an investment summit in Kathmandu, bringing together renowned companies, investors, multilateral agencies, and global tourism stakeholders.
A delegation led by Bagci—including Serkhan Cepheci and Julia Kathrin Kleber—held meetings with Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle, Tourism Minister Khadak Raj Poudel, and Urban Development Minister Sunil Lamsal.
Bagci stressed the need for Nepal to actively reach out to investors, build institutional trust, and brand itself as a safe and stable destination while ensuring competitive returns. Kleber noted that Nepal could leverage the Forum to attract investors seeking alternatives amid uncertainties in regions like the Middle East.
Bagci said Nepal has the potential to attract up to five million tourists within five to ten years but must address key challenges such as removal from the EU safety concern list, effective operation of international airports, and improved road infrastructure.
The delegation, invited by the Nepal Tourism Board, also attended the Wild Nepal Safari Mart 2026 and held discussions with the Investment Board Nepal on large-scale projects including riverfront development, real estate, and tourism infrastructure. #Nepal
