Government announces cash prize to Nepali cricket team

Kathmandu, March 17: The government of Nepal has decided to award Rs three lakhs each to the Nepalese cricket team members.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ announced a prize of Rs three lakh per player while congratulating Nepal for qualifying for the Cricket World Cup after defeating UAE in the ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 on Thursday.

Prime Minister Dahal has tweeted, “Congratulating the Nepali cricket team for entering the qualifiers of the World Cup cricket tournament and raising the self-respect and identity of Nepal. I announce a prize of Rs three lakhs for each player.”

Nepal defeated UAE by nine runs based on the Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) method in the match held at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Thursday, and booked a ticket to the ODI World Cup qualifiers to be held in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, PM Dahal has directed the National Sports Council to immediately install modern floodlights and score boards at the cricket ground in Kirtipur.
