Govt adds more local levels in list of disaster crisis zone, reaching 71 now

Kathmandu, Oct 10: The government declared 30 more local levels as the disaster crisis zones, reaching 71 from 20 districts. Earlier, the government had announced 41 local levels from 11 districts as the disaster crises zone.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held last Monday took a decision to this effect, paying heed to the demand made from various sides, according to Dr Dijan Bhattarai, Spokesperson at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (DRRMA).

The disaster crises zone is in effect since September 27 for three months. With this, the relief distribution, rehabilitation and reconstruction works would be channelized in a coordinated manner, it is believed. The list of the local levels was published in the gazette.

The Authority further informed that the country recorded the deaths of 146 persons so far, while 18 are still missing. Similarly, the floods and landslides caused by the nonstop rainfall occurred on September 27-28 caused the finance loss of about Rs 50 billion. #monsoon #landslide #nepal
