Kathmandu, July 14: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on Tuesday appointed five new members to the Board of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
According to Minister Khadak Raj Paudel, the newly appointed board members are:
- Dr. Sobita Shrestha Dhakal – Medical and Wellness Tourism
- Pemba Sherpa – 8K Expedition
- Khum Bahadur Subedi – Former President of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN)
- Santosh Pokharel – Hotel entrepreneur from Pokhara
- Srijana KC – IT and Wellness Tourism expert
The recommendation committee formed by the ministry evaluated more than 1,100 applications and shortlisted 10 candidates. Five members were then appointed from the shortlist through a ministerial decision.
The newly appointed members will serve a three-year term.
The recommendation committee was chaired by Ram Krishna Lamichhane, Director General of the Department of Tourism. Its members included Arvind Kumar Jha and Purna Kumar Sherpa.
Under the Nepal Tourism Board’s governance structure, the board consists of five representatives from the private sector and five ex-officio government members. The Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation serves as the Board Chair, while the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the Member Secretary.
As the CEO position is currently vacant, Ministry is preparing to appoint a new CEO very soon.
