Biratnagar, May 24: CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that press freedom is not violated by the arrest of the Chairman of Kantipur Media Group, Kailash Shirohiya over the citizenship issues.

Speaking with media persons here on Thursday, he clarified that the issue of citizenship investigation is not related to violation of press freedom. “Chairman of Kantipur Media Group, Sirohiya, was arrested over a citizenship-related case, so it should not be misinterpreted”, chairman Oli said.

On a different note, Oli opined that the Nepali Congress doesn’t need to protest in the streets on the issue of cooperatives’ fund embezzlement. Earlier, Chair Oli unveiled the busts of former leaders Madan Bhandari, Pushpa Lal Shrestha and Manmohan Adhikari.
