
Morang, March 2: Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has said that the Koshi Province government was serious to make Maithali and Limbu languages as its official languages.
The Chief Minister started so at an interaction programme organized by the Public Service Broadcasting Nepal (PSBN), Radio Nepal on the role of Radio Nepal in broadcasting news in the national languages at Biratnagar in Morang district today.
Karki reaffirmed the province government’s commitment to organize discussions, formulate legislations, research and conduct study of various scripts and their development regarding the use of languages.
Emphasizing strengthening national unity by preserving religions, cultures and languages of all ethnic communities, he suggested that the students of grade 9 to 12 should listen to the radios to receive moral education and foster discipline.
Also, speaking at the programme, Internal Affairs and Law Minister of Koshi Province Rewati Raman Bhandari noted that the state-owned media has playing important roles in informing the society. PSBN’s Chairperson Dr Mahendra Bista acknowledged the crucial role of the Radio Nepal in preserving the ethnic languages across the country.
Likewise, Tara Prasad Wasti, coordinator of the interaction programme, and Pushkarraj Gautam, Director of the Tarini Prasad Koirala Memorial Media House, Biratnagar, briefed the participants about the accomplishments and ongoing initiatives of the Tarini Prasad Koirala Memorial Media House.
The interaction was attended by various scholars and media experts in the province who had put forth their queries about the news broadcasting being done by the Radio Nepal in various national languages.#nepal #political #rss
