‘Govt working to provide free basic health service’

Mahendranagar, July 27: Minister for Health and Population Mohan Bahadur Basnet today said the government was at work to provide free basic health service to people.

The ministry was working to provide free healthcare to people as guaranteed by the constitution as per the policy of the constitution, he said at an event organised to hand over the newly constructed province health emergency executive centre at Laxminiya Rural Municipality-4 in Dhanusha district.

The ministry would resolve problems revolving the health sector within six months, he claimed. “In the first phase, the ministry has completed the allocation of the total 325 beds at private and government hospitals across the country for the poor and helpless people.

The provision for private and government health facilities to allocate 10 percent of beds for poor and helpless people is being strictly implemented,” he said.

Likewise, Minister for Health and Population of the Province, Birendra Kumar Singh, shared that necessary activities are underway to reform health sector of the Province and decision has also been taken to upgrade all district hospital up to 100 beds.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Roshan Pokharel, World Health Organisation Representative to Nepal, Dr Rajesh Sambhajirao, additional secretary of the Health Ministry, Sangita Kaushal Mishra, and Secretary at the Health and Population Ministry of Madhes province, Dr Pramod Kumar Yadav, expressed the belief that it would be easy to provide service during natural disaster in the province due to operation of Province Health Emergency Work Operation Centre.

The Centre was constructed at the financial assistance of Rs 8.87 million of the WHO with an objective of carrying out activities on time during natural disaster.
