Kathmandu, Sept 18: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the Haritalika (Teej) festival has carried a religious and cultural importance adding that this festival is being marked by Nepali women as a traditional cultural festival.
In a message of best wishes to all Nepali sisters on the occasion of the great festival of Teej, the President has wished for their happiness, peace and prosperity, and has stated that women hold the highest position in the society on the basis of their traits and characteristics.
The President has also expressed his best wishes for the elimination of prevailing gender-based discrimination, caste-based discrimination and all sorts of inequalities and stated that may this festival orient all to the development of an equitable society.
President Paudel has also stated that this festival has made significant contributions to maintain fraternity, harmony, unity and social goodwill. The President has described this festival as a symbol of traditional customs and religious tolerance.
Likewise, the President has stressed the need of making such unique festivals dignified and handover to the future generation by preserving the country’s arts and cultures. In his message, President Paudel has called for avoiding frugal celebrations of such festivals. RSS
