Healthcare services affected due to doctors’ protest

Gandaki, July 28: Healthcare services have been affected in various hospitals in Pokhara today due to the doctors’ protest against the attack and mistreatment of medical staff working at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj.

President of the Gandaki chapter of the Nepal Medical Association, Dr. Sunil Paneru, said that most hospitals in Pokhara have stopped outpatient services as part of the nationwide protest called by the Association.

Hundreds of patients have been deprived of treatment services since the OPD services have been stopped at hospitals like Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, the Gandaki Medical College, Manipal Teaching Hospital, Charak Memorial Hospital, and Fewa City Hospital.

“Only outpatient services are closed; other services, including emergency ones, are functioning,” said Dr. Paneru. “Since the strike was organized by the NMA central level, whether it continues or is called off depends on the center’s decision. For now, the strike is still ongoing.”#nepal #rss
