Kathmandu, July 2: The House of Representatives (HoR) passed the ‘Bill designed to amend some Nepal Acts related to Academy of Health Sciences, 2083’ on Thursday.
The Bill was brought to replace the existing ordinance. Minister for Health and Food Safety, Nisha Mehta, had presented the Bill in the parliament, seeking its passage. The proposal was tabled after clause-wise discussion and response by the Minister to the lawmakers’ queries.
While responding to lawmakers’ queries, the Minister reminded government’s commitment to improving health sector in line with the 100-point agenda for good governance. The people from economically disadvantaged class were allocated 10 percent of beds in hospitals, she informed.
During the deliberation, several parliamentarians raised concerns over unresolved issues of the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences and the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. They demanded that Bill addressed their challenges.
Parliamentarians Aren Rai, Nisha Dangi, Khadga Shahi, Sita Thapaliya, Pramila Kumari Gachchhdar, Kamal Subedi, Ramesh Malla, Sajida Khatun Siddaki, Kriparam Rana participated in the discussion.
