House endorses Appropriation Bill, 2080 by majority

Kathmandu, June 28: A majority of votes approved the ‘Appropriation Bill, 2080’. The appropriation bill, presented by Minister for Finance Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat at the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Wednesday, was endorsed through vote division.

A total of 147 HoR members voted in support of the motion while 108 members stood against it.

Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire announced the approval of the appropriation bill as it received majority of votes in the HoR. A total of 255 HoR members were present in today’s meeting.

Before that, Speaker Ghimire had directed the secretariat to ring alarming bell for five minutes as part of the process for vote division.

Earlier, Finance Minister Dr Mahat had presented a motion seeking approval of the ‘Appropriation Bill, 2080’.

Speaker Ghimire had proposed for voice vote with ‘yes’ or no’. Saying that there was a majority in support of the proposal, he declared the endorsement of the appropriation bill.

Speaker Ghimire had put forward the process for vote division after CPN-UML’s whip Mahesh Bartaula demanded for the same.
