House Speaker Mahara resigns



Kathmandu, Oct 1 : The House Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has resigned from the post of House Speaker on Tuesday after the sexual allegations.

He tendered his resignation to Deputy Speaker.

He had to resign from the post after Nepal Communist Party (NCP) directed him to resign immediately. The emergency meeting of NCP Secretariat suggested Mr Mahara to resign, Narayan Kaji Shreshtha, leader of NCP, said after the meeting.

A lady staff, Roshani Shahi, at the House Secretariat has claimed that Mahara manhandled and assaulted her after reaching her room Monday evening in Koteshwor.

Firstly, he denied such allegations. However, he accepted that he was there in the Monday evening.

Resignation letter
