Humanitarian service is the greatest service: Minister Sharma



Dang, Nov 17: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma asserted that humanitarian service is the greatest of all services.

Inspecting the Manav Kalyan Ghar (Shelter) at Narayanpur in Dang district today, Minister Sharma lauded the management of the Shelter and viewed that rescuing mentally disturbed people streets and reuniting them with their families was the greatest deed.

Expressing her gratitude towards the Shelter for protecting the stranded people rescued from the streets and public places, the Minister urged the Shelter’s office-bearers to coordinate efforts with the all three governments so as to run the Shelter Home more effectively.

She also appealed with the office-bearers to devise additional action-plans for securing support from three-tier government for the same.
Minister Sharma on the occasion pledged utmost support from the government for those being housed at the Shelter Home, arguing that they need basics such as food, clothes and safe shelter.

Similarly, Bijay Kumar Pokharel, Shelter’s secretary, shared that there were altogether 38 adults and 4 children at the Shelter Home at present. They have so far rescued over 160 people stranded in the streets and among them over 100 were reunited with their families, he informed.

Meanwhile, speaking at a discussion programme with the locals of Kasturinagar, Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-15 in Dang today, Minister Sharma said the role of the locality development committee would be crucial in community development.

She stressed that the Locality Development Committee should be involved in all the stages from formulation of plans, their implementation to evaluation.

The Communications and Information Technology Minister called for the concerted efforts from all quarters for the infrastructure development works. She stressed that the local leaders should take the initiatives for and leadership of local development projects. RSS
