CHITWAN: Leader Dr Bhim Rawal, who has filed candidacy for the post of CPN UML chair in the ongoing 10th National Congress of the party, has said he would accept the election result.
Leader Dr Rawal said it after casting vote in the election early this morning. “I accept election result in whatever favour it comes, but I don’t like to become mere a central member,” he said, reiterating that if he was defeated in the post he would not stay in the central committee.
He and KP Sharma Oli are fighting for the post of party chair.
Rawal was mentioned in the name list of 301 central members made public last night, which was put forth for consensus.
Rawal further made it clear that he had not filed candidacy for the post of central member. He asserted that he only filled the form for the post of party chair.
Leader Rawal expressed commitment that he would work continuously for people, country and democracy. The voting for the party chair had begun at4:00am Tuesday.
UML National Congress: Voting begins at 4:00am
Delaying two hours in schedule, voting began at 4:00am today for electing party leadership in the ongoing 1oth National Congress of UML in Chitwan. For the post of party chair, KP Sharma Oli and Dr Bhim Rawal are in the fray.
Various leaders including Oli and Rawal have cast their votes. Electronic voting is being conducted. The voting is being held for the post of party chair, vice chair and secretary. Similarly, the categories to have election are for central committee- members (open), Province-1 (geographical) open, Province-1 women, inclusive (open), Tharu (open), backward community and women central members in Sudurpaschim Province.
Election to other posts was held in consensus. For the post of six vice chairs and seven secretaries, nine leaders have filed candidacies. Those claiming the vice chair post are Yubaraj Gyawali, Astalaxmi Shakya, Surendra Pande, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Subash Chandra Nembang, Bishnu Poudel and Ghanashyam Bhushal.
Similarly, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Raghubir Mahaseth, Chhabilal Bishwokarma, Lekhraj Bhatta, Yogesh Bhattarai, Gokarna Bista, Padma Aryal, Bhim Acharya and Tanka Karki filed candidacies for the post of secretary.
