ICC Cricket World Cup: Nepal lost to UAE by 68 runs



Kathmandu, March 2: Nepal has been defeated by United Arab Emiratates (UAE) in the triangular one-day series under the ICC World Cup Cricket League-2 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Nepal lost to UAE by 68 runs in today’s match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Chasing the target of 208 runs given by the UAE, Nepal lost all wickets in 31.5 overs and was reduced to 139 runs. Kushal Malla contributed the most 60 runs for Nepal. Similarly, Sandeep Lamichhane remained unbeaten on 26 runs while Aasif Sheikh added 17 runs.

UAE’s Rohan Mustafa and Karthik Meiyappan took 3 wickets each while Junaid Siddique took 2 wickets. Zahoor Khan and Sabir Ali took 1/1 wicket each.

Before that, UAE, who batted first, scored 207 runs after losing 8 wickets in the scheduled 50 overs. Opener Asif Khan contributed the most for UAE with 72 runs while Rohan Mustafa added 52 not out.

Similarly, Aryan Lakra scored 28 runs, captain Chundangapoyil Rizwan scored 22 and Vriitya Aravind scored 18 runs. For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets while Karan KC, Kushal Malla and Aarif Sheikh took 1/1 wicket each. With the win, UAE is in fifth place with 31 points with 14 wins and 13 losses in 30 matches. Defeated Nepal is at the sixth position in the points table with 28 points with 13 wins and 15 losses in 30 matches.
