ICC World Cup League-2: Nepal lost to Canada by 103 runs



Kathmandu, Sept 17: Nepal has been defeated by the home team Canada in the ICC Men’s World Cup League-2 triangular series. Nepal lost to Canada by a huge margin of 103 runs in the match completed last night at King City, Canada.

It was the first time Nepal lost to Canada in an ODI match due to poor ‘batting’ performance. Earlier in the three meetings with Canada, Nepal won all the three matches.

Chasing a target of 254 runs, Nepal lost all wickets in 40.1 overs and was reduced to 150 runs. Karan KC scored the highest 27 runs facing 24 balls for Nepal. He hit two fours and two sixes.

Similarly, opener Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed for one run. Sandeep Lamichhane 22, Aasif Sheikh 20, Bhim Sarki 18, Gulshan Jha 15, Kushal Malla 12, Dipendra Singh Airee 8, Sompal Kami 6 and captain Rohit Kumar Paudel were dismissed for 5 runs. Canadian fast bowler Dilon Heyliger took five wickets while Akhil Kumar and Ansh Patel took two wickets each.

Before that, Canada lost the toss and was invited to bat first. Losing eight wickets in the scheduled 50 overs they made a total of 253 runs. Captain Nicholas Kirton contributed the most 73 runs for him. He played an unbeaten innings of 73 runs off 44 balls with three fours and six sixes.

Nepal’s Sompal Kami and Lalit Rajvanshi took two wickets each while Sandeep Lamichhane, Gulshan Jha and Rohit Paudel took one wicket each.
