
Kathmandu, June 9: Nepal suffered a narrow defeat against hosts Scotland in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 triangular ODI series.
In the match held at the Forfarhill Cricket Ground in Dundee, Scotland, on Sunday, Nepal lost by just two runs while chasing a massive target of 324 runs. Nepal managed to score 321 runs, losing all wickets, in their allotted 50 overs.
For Nepal, Bhim Sharki was the top scorer with a vital 73 runs off 85 balls, including eight boundaries. Sharki built a 94-run partnership with Aarif Sheikh, who scored 39 runs off 55 balls, hitting five boundaries.
Vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee contributed a valuable 56 runs off 51 balls with two boundaries. Airee shared a crucial 105-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Sompal Kami. Kami scored an aggressive 67 runs off 44 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes.
For Scotland, Mackenzie Jones took three wickets, while Safyaan Sharif and Michael Leask grabbed two wickets each. Brandon McMullen and Charlie Cassell picked up one wicket apiece.
Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Scotland posted a formidable total of 323 runs for six wickets in 50 overs.
Richie Berrington starred with a brilliant 102 runs off 114 balls, including six boundaries and four sixes. Michael Leask remained unbeaten on 96 runs off 62 balls, hitting 12 boundaries and three sixes. Charlie Tear added 68 runs off 65 balls with nine boundaries, while Mark Watt remained unbeaten on 21 runs and Finlay McCreath contributed 17 runs.
For Nepal, Karan KC and Dipendra Singh Airee took two wickets each, while Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi claimed one wicket. #nepal #cricket
