Indian Power Secretary visits construction site of Arun-III hydel project



Sankhuwasabha, July 17: Secretary of India’s Ministry of Power Pankaj Agarwal on Thursday visited Sankhuwasabha district to inspect the ongoing construction works of the Arun-III hydropower project.

The project with a capacity of 900 megawatts is being developed by India’s SJVN Arun-III Power Development Company.

The team of Indian Secretary Agarwal inspected the ongoing construction works of the powerhouse at Pukhuwa in Chichila Rural Municipality and the dam site at Phyaksinda in Makalu Rural Municipality in the district.

On the occasion, the Indian Secretary took stock of progress and implementation status of civil and electro-mechanical works, dam, intake system and other infrastructures, it is said.

During the inspection visit, the Indian Secretary expressed happiness for the speedy construction works of the project and asked the concerned sides for the timely completion of the project by prioritizing quality, security protocol and environmental sustainability in the construction jobs.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava, Chairman of India’s Central Electricity Authority Ghanshyam Prasad and other Indian officials were present in the inspection visit.

CEO of SJVN Arun-III Power Development Company Pankaj Chaudhary briefed the delegation about the CSR projects including rehabilitation and resettlement programmes, community development activities, environmental protection activities and others. #nepal #rss
