Information Ministry bids farewell to Minister Kharel



Kathmandu, Jan 19: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Monday bade farewell to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel who had resigned from his post on today itself.

At a programme organized by the Ministry on Monday evening at the Ministry, Ministry’s Officiating Secretary Udaya Rana presented Kharel with a garland, khada (ceremonial scarf) and gifts, formally bidding him farewell on behalf of the Ministry.

Kharel, who took up his role as the Information Minister on September 22 last year in the interim government formed in the wake of Gen-Z uprising occurred on September 8 and 9 in 2025, had tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Sushila Karki this evening.

During the farewell, outgoing Minister Kharel expressed his gratitude for getting an important opportunity to serve the country and its people as the Minister for Communications and Information Minister over four month period.

Stating that he received full support from his Ministry and its subordinate agencies during this period which, he viewed enabled him to accomplish important works within a short span of time.

“Although the stint was short, I got an opportunity to learn a great deal about State affairs. I would like to dedicate the experience gained here to the country and the people. My works are transparent; let it be evaluated,” the outgoing Minister asserted.

He confessed that there were no painful experiences as such while working as the Minister. “Everything was pleasant, achievement-oriented, result-driven and cordial,” he assessed his time in the Ministry.

He called for collective efforts of civil servants and politicians, arguing that the country cannot move forward through the sole efforts of either of them.

During the farewell, Officiating Secretary Rana said that although Kharel did not have a prior experience in political circle, his long experience in journalism enabled him to record a significant progress and deliver incomparable achievements during his short stint as the Minister. #nepal #rss
