Kathmandu, March 11: An international art exhibition titled ‘Eyes to Edge’ has kicked off in the federal capital, Kathmandu, today.
In the international art exhibition organized by Kochin Fine Art Club, India in collaboration with the Department of Contemporary Arts and the Department of Crafts and Handicrafts at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, art works of the artists from Nepal, India and Bangladesh have been included.
Inaugurating the exhibition, Naradmani Hartamchhali, Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, highlighted the deep cultural relationship between Nepal and India from ancient heritage, stating that such exhibitions further strengthen it.
He noted that fraternal relations have persisted between the two countries since the Himalayan region and that cultural and artistic connections have been established since the Vedic period, with its reflections remarkably visible in South Asian art.
Indian artist and exhibition curator Manoj VN expressed happiness for being able to conduct this event in collaboration with the Academy, stating that the exhibition was impactful with many aspects of art and culture being traditionally overlapped between Nepal and India.
Aruna Hingmang, programme coordinator and head of the Crafts and Handicrafts Department of the Academy, said such exhibitions help with the exchange of art and culture between the two countries. The exhibition was organized to strengthen mutual relations and expand culture, she added.
Indian artist Pawal Pagal recalling equivocal cultural significance of Nepal and India recited poetry at the event. Another artist, Uday Raj, presented Indian songs by playing the flute.
This exhibition, featuring 30 artworks by artists from Nepal, India, and Bangladesh, will continue until March 14.
The exhibited artworks are related to contemporary, religious, cultural, and everyday life themes. Five artists have come from India to Nepal for the art exhibition.
