Kathmandu, Oct 10 : All preparations have been completed for the International Gurung (Tamu) Conference to be held here on October 11 and 12. The conference is being held for the first time in Nepal.
Tamu Hyula Chhonja Dhein Gurung National Council, the umbrella organization of the Gurung community is organizing the conference.
Representatives from all seven provinces and 63 districts of the country will attend the conference which will be focussed on unity, existence and identity of the Gurung community.
Council chairman Resham Gurung said that representatives of the organizations of the Gurungs in various 35 countries including India, Bhutan, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium and Myanmar, among others will also be participating in the conference.
Six working papers on four various relevant topics would be presented and discussed in the conference, Gurung stated. Prof Dr Om Gurung, Dr Ganesh Gurung, Dr Sumitra Manandhar Gurung, Dr Tek Bahadur Gurung and Bal Narsingh Gurung are presenting working papers on the occasion.
