Judiciary grasped its pace towards delivering justice: Chief Justice

Nuwakot, Dec 7: Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha has said that the judiciary now has grasped its pace towards delivering justice.

Inaugurating the newly-constructed building of Nuwakot District Court, Nepal, on Thursday, the Chief Justice said that priority has been given to the service delivery through the use of modern technology, making them relevant and contextual.

The CJ shared that external and internal environments of the judiciary have become favorable in the three months of his role as the Chief Justice. “Ownership and commitment of has been visible for judicial reforms,” he added.

CJ Shrestha described his reforms measures of the judiciary to the finalization of more cases compared to the registration of new ones, efforts to give verdict to the cases registered two years ago and ensuring automation in hearing of the cases.

He shared that preparations are ongoing to adopt automation system for the hearing of the cases in the High Courts. “We are committed to develop a reliable justice system through assurance of good-governance and ensuring access to all through prompt, quality and effective justice delivery,” CJ Shrestha added.

The building of the Nuwakot District Court, which suffered damage in the Gorkha Earthquake 2015, was reconstructed with the investment of Rs 96.1 million from the National Reconstruction Authority.
