
Kathmandu, Feb 21: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has intensified its efforts to enhance urban aesthetics and facilitate pedestrian movement by paving various areas with stone. In the current fy 2024/25, KMC aims to cover approximately 33,000 square meters with stone paving, out of which 10,729 square meters have already been completed.
The Public Construction Department of KMC has implemented eight projects under seven different packages, with five of them already completed. These completed projects include stone paving in wards 8, 12, 21, 26, and 6, covering roads and alleyways. Key areas where the work has been completed include Jayabageshwari Marg, Hyumat Khola Pakha, Lagan Chowk, Kumarikripa Marg, and Ramhiti Marg.
The estimated total cost for these projects is Rs 294.78 million. The metropolitan city has stated that this initiative aims to preserve the originality of heritage sites while also prioritizing urban development and pedestrian convenience.
