Kathmandu, April 9: Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak have been released today on a conditional bail by the police.

According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai at Kathmandu District Police Office, both individuals were released on the condition that they must appear whenever required during the investigation.

Oli was released under the responsibility of his wife Radhika Shakya, and Lekhak under the responsibility of his wife Yashoda Joshi.

They had been arrested on March 28 by the Kathmandu District Police Office on charges related to the violent suppression during the Gen Z movement in September 8, 2025, which resulted in loss of life.

Although released from police custody, Oli is currently admitted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital( TUTH) due to illness and is undergoing treatment for kidney stones. He is expected to be discharged on Monday.

Meanwhile, Lekhak had been kept at the Police Battalion No. 2 in Maharajgunj.

The Supreme Court earlier ordered the law enforcement agencies to lodge case in the court or release both of them by today (Thursday).
