Lalita Niwas land-grab: Three more arrested

Kathmandu, July 3: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on Sunday arrested three more people in connection with the Lalita Niwas land-grab scam.

Police arrested Shivaji Bhattarai, then secretary of ward no 4 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)- in 2060 BS and currently officer at the KMC Cooperatives Department, the then staffers at the Survey Office Ghaman Kumar Karki and Baburaja Maharajn who masqueraded as the fake tenant, according to Kuber Kadayat, Spokesperson and DIG of the Nepal Police.

The trio were arrested on the charge of forgery of the government documents to grab the Lalita Niwas land, said the CIB. Police have already arrested four people allegedly involved in the land-grabbing scam and the court has extended their remand.

With this, seven people have been taken under control of CIB so far in connection with the infamous Lalita Niwas land-grab scam.

The public property of Lalita Niwas in Baluwatar was brought under the ownership of many individuals from 2049 BS to 2069 BS.
