Hetauda, Sept 27: The road leading to Kathmandu via Bhimphedi-Kulekhani-Phakhel has been obstructed by landslide at Kaura, Indrasarobar rural municipality-2 in Makawanpur district. The rain-triggered landslide has blocked the road since the morning today.

Locals together with police and engineers of the Road Division Office are at work to clear the landslide debris and open the road for traffic, the District Police Office said.
Police has suggested vehicles heading to Kathmandu from Hetauda and vice-versa to use the alternative route.

Likewise, a section of the Kanti Highway is also closed due to mudslide occurred last night at Ghattepakha of Bakaiya rural municipality-12 in Makawanpur. Efforts are on to remove the landslide deposition at this place, police said.

However, traffic is operating normally on the Tribhuvan Highway, the Bhimphedi-Kulekhani-Sisneri-Dakshinkali section and on the East-West highway in the district.

Meanwhile, vehicular movement on the Rapti highway has come to a halt due to occurrence of landslides at various locations along the roadway amidst continuous rain.

Assistant Chief District Officer Sabitra Pun at the District Administration Office said the highway has been obstructed due to landslides between Ramri of Tulasipur and Kapurkot of Salyan.
Pun said landslides have occurred at some places and the road has subsided at some other places.

According to her, heavy vehicles, trucks and trippers have been banned on the highway from today till September 29 for carrying out road repair works. The road section will be opened for light vehicles after removing the landslide debris.

Naubise-Nagdhunga road disrupted

The Naubise-Nagdhunga road section of the Tribhuvan highway has been disrupted due to mud deposition. The road has been blocked by the mudflow from above the road near the tunnel way at Dhunibesi Municipality-9 following incessant rain,

Traffic has come to a standstill due to this. All types of vehicles including the passenger buses that left Kathmandu for various destinations have been stranded. The Traffic Police Office Gajuri said it has been difficult to clear the mud that has deposited on the road as it has been raining continuously.    #monsoon #landslide #road
