Lawmakers from Taplejung call attention of Home Minister on rescue and relief



Kathmandu, June 18: Lawmakers representing Taplejung district in the Federal Parliament have drawn the attention of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Rabi Lamichhane towards the loss of life and property caused by the recent floods and landslides at various places of the district.

Five people have died and many physical structures damaged due to the disasters so far in the district.

The House of Representatives members Yogesh Bhattarai, Urmila Thebe and Lila Devi Bokhim (Limbu) met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister today and apprised him that hundreds of people have been displaced from their homes as their houses suffered damage and movement of people and has been hampered and transportation obstructed due to the damage caused to the motorable bridges, suspension bridges and wooden bridges as well as to the roadways due to the disasters.

On the occasion, Home Minister Lamichhane said that he is aware of the damage caused by the disasters in Taplejung and expressed the commitment to pursue the rescue, relief and reconstruction works in coordination and cooperation with the local level, the provincial government and the federal government offices, keeping these works in high priority.
