Kathmandu, Sept 24: Speakers at a programme have underlined the need for linking the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to the industrial community so that TVET graduates would test their employability and job markets get fulfilled with proper workforce.
During a discussion organized recently by the Shankharapur Polytechnic Institute under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) on ‘Struggles of TVET Graduates to Find Employment in Nepal’, the TVET graduates and experts viewed the robust link of TVET institutions to the industrial and business communities would create adequate opportunities for the skilled workforce, which ultimately contribute to the national economy.
The discussion held in the federal capital witnessed the participation of people from diverse sectors ranging from the TVET institutions, students, educators, and business and industrial communities. They recommended robust collaboration among the TVET institutions and business communities at multiple levels to reduce the struggles of TVET graduates to find jobs.
A TVET expert at Kathmandu University, Dr Prakash Kumar Poudel, called for a more integrated approach between educational institutions and industry to retain TVET graduates.
Similarly, Director of the CTEVT Quality project, Pramod Bhakta Acharya, urged the graduates to adapt to the evolving demands of the job market. He reiterated CTEVT’s commitment to evolving with technological advancements and revising its curriculum to meet market demands.
Managing Director of Batuk Bhairab Construction Pvt Ltd and a board member of the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN), Pramod Lamichhane, encouraged graduates to consider entrepreneurship rather than solely seeking employment.
“There are ample opportunities for technical graduates within my company. I request for the placement unit at educational institutions to proactively seek job vacancies,” said the founder of Subidha Sewa Pvt Ltd, Ajay Raj Joshi.
The Principal at Shankharapur Polytechnic Institute, Anil Muni Bajracharya, underlined the significance of TVET graduates’ meet in fostering connections between education and industry.
Other panelists offered insights into potential internships within the construction industry and recommended that graduates apply for internships through FCAN to enhance their skills. #rss #employment #TVET #CTEVT
