Lumbini, June 15: Lumbini Province government has unveiled a budget of Rs 37.38 billion for coming fiscal year 2026/27.
In today’s meeting of Lumbini Province Assembly, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Dharendra Karki, presented the government’s annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the new fiscal year.
Of the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure, Rs 22.71 billion has been allocated for capital expenditure and Rs 11.11 billion for current expenditure.
Lumbini government through the budget has given top priority to strengthening provincial structures, institutional development of federal democratic system, enabling provincial economy, financial discipline, expansion of public and private sectors and economic prosperity.
Minister Karki mentioned that the budget has been prepared in order to implement the long-term vision of ‘Prosperous Lumbini, Happy Citizens’.
An arrangement has been made to provide full concession to establish industries except liquor and tobacco related ones while start-up and innovation programme would be launched by establishing ‘Enterprises Development Fund’ for entrepreneurship promotion.
The Lumbini province government has adopted a policy to reduce number of ministries to eight and has kept Digital Lumbini Province Programme in priority.
Productivity growth of agriculture sector, expansion of technical services, capacity building programme for teachers of community campuses and schools, reducing child marriage are incorporated in the budget.
The budget has given priority to programme connecting youths with entrepreneurship, sports infrastructure development, employment generating projects as well as continuity has been given to programme increasing income of rural community and relief and insurance programme for human-wildlife conflict.
Similarly, disaster management and expansion of information technology and digital services are in priority of the budget while funds have been earmarked to develop Lumbini Portal.
The Lumbini government has set a goal of shared prosperity in collaboration with public, private and cooperative sectors.
