Mahantha Thakur calls on PM Deuba, indicates to join government



Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) Nepal, Mahantha Thakur, held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Official Resident, Baluwatar, on Tuesday evening.

During the meeting held at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar, they discussed the contemporary issues of the country including election results and participation in ruling alliance. He said, “I had a meeting with the Prime Minister, we talked about current issues, I met him after the election.”

“We held discussion on contemporary issues. I met the Prime Minister Deuba after the election.”
He mentioned that the party was positive on joining the new government as it is already a part of the ruling alliance, adding his party should continue to be a constituent of the alliance for a time being to propel political stability and development.

Chair Thakur further said a meeting of top leaders of the party had made the shared opinion that the party should join the new government under the leadership of five-party alliance.

It is understood that the final results of the recently concluded House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies member elections will be announced tomorrow, Wednesday, after which the parties will take the initiative to form a new government.

It is said that the meeting of the executive committee of LSP will be held soon to make a formal decision about participating in the power coalition. LSP has won four seats in the House of Representatives, however failed to get Members from Proportional System as the party could not cross the minimum threshold of 3%.
