Kathmandu, March 8: Police have seized around seven kilogrammes of marijuana in parcels brought from the USA. The parcels were brought from the USA disguised as chocolate and toys.
A team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau of the Nepal Police seized 4.5 kilogrammes of marijuana in a parcel and 2.4 kilogrammes in another parcel in course of carrying out investigation of the parcel arriving at the Customs Office, Tribhuvan International Airport, said Superintendent of Police at Bureau, Chakra Raj Joshi.
Three persons including an Indian national were arrested.
Nimesh Ashokbhai, 30, of Gujarat, India, and Faij Alam, 28, of Hariharpur of Sarlahi were arrested after 4.5 kilogrammes of marijuana was impounded from a parcel, mentioned as chocolate and toys, brought from the USA via United Arab Emirates.
Indian Adhar cards as well as Rs 80,000 were also seized from them as well while Rs 140,000 was also confiscated from their room of a hotel in Thamel, where they were staying, added Joshi.
Similarly, 2.4 kg of marijuana was seized while checking the parcel brought from USA in another incident. Rupak Aryal of Gorkha was arrested in this connection, shared Joshi.
Investigation has been forwarded as per Narcotic Control Act-2033.
