Kathmandu, Feb 5: The Mayor of Phungling Municipality Amir Maden has said that cable car construction at Pathivara of Taplejung is essential for the development.
Mayor Maden has been working hard to persuade the local people on constructing the cable car sooner.
The Pathivara Shaktipeeth is located at Ward No. 10 and 11 of the Phungling Municipality. The Shaktipeeth locates some 3,794 meter high from the sea level. However, nearly one or two lakh people reached Pathivara each year with difficult travel experience. Mayor Maden believes that after the construction of cable car the flow of devotees and other people increase, and each year we expect 1.5 million people will visit Pathivara.
He shared that the project may help devotees and tourists to reach Pathivara in a easy way. He says, “It’s very hard to reach temple for old-age people and children. The cable car will help bring lots of people there, and local people will get more benefit. It will create jobs, and tourism sector will flourish.”
He also said that the project will help the development of not only Taplejung district but also the entire Koshi province. However, some Limbu community activists have been protesting against the cable car project, claiming that the Pathivara was the goddess of Limbu people. But Mayor Maden denies this fact, and the goddess Pathivara has remained one of the important religious place of all Hindu people.
Mayor Maden has requested all the people to rethink over their protests, and create favorable condition.
