Meat and alcohol prohibited for three days in Janakpurdham

Janakpur, Dec 12: Selling and distribution of fish, meat and alcohol has been prohibited for three days in Janakpurdham in view of the Shree Sitaram Vivah Panchami Mahotsav festival.

Issuing a notice today, the District Administration Office, Dhanusha, Nepal, imposed the order prohibiting the sale and distribution of fish, meat and alcohol from 12 midnight of December 14 until midnight of December 17.

Administrative Officer Bishwa Bijaya Sharma said a meeting of the District Security Committee made this decision for the celebration of the week-long Vivah Panchami festival in a safe, peaceful, dignified and cordial environment.

Chief District Officer Chakrapani Pandey informed that slaughtering of animals and birds, transportation, selling and distribution of fish and meat as well as sale, supply and consumption of alcohol has been strictly prohibited within the Parikrama zone and on either side of the Parikrama Road in Janakpurdham during this period.

The DAO Dhanusha said legal action would be taken if this edict is violated.
