Govt to address long-standing land dispute between Rampur Campus, AFU



Chitwan, July 18: Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel visited the Rampur Campus and the Agriculture and Forestry University in Chitwan, beginning efforts to resolve the long-standing land-related dispute between the two institutions.

Both entities have been involved in a land-related dispute for the past 15 years.

The Rampur Campus functions as a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University under the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, while the AFU remains as an independent university.

The Minister took stock of educational, research and administrative initiatives of both institutions, along with their infrastructure and library facilities, while interacting with campus and university office-bearers, teachers, employees and the stakeholders concerned.

During the discussions, the Minister was informed that the long-standing land dispute between the two academic institutions has its implications on educational development, infrastructure expansion and the implementation of long-term plans of both entities.

On the occasion, the Minister pledged that solutions would be sought though a coordinated and lawful processes, protecting and promoting educational interests of both entities.

Describing these institutions as major foundations for producing skilled human resources, while contributing to the nation’s educational, research and technological development, the Minister vowed to take necessary initiatives to address the dispute in a way that serves the best interests of both bodies.

The stakeholders concerned expressed the hope that the dispute would be resolved through the Minister’s initiatives, paving way for further development of both institutions.
