Monsoon to remain active for three days



Kathmandu, Sept 12:

Monsoon trough presently remains around its normal position causing rainfall in the country, the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

According to meteorologist Raju Pradhananga, monsoon trough has started shifting towards north, resulting in the possibility of increased rainfall activities for the next few days.

Wind originated from the Bay of Bengal containing water vapor has pushed the monsoon activities, he said.

However, continuous rainfall is not expected. There will be rainfall followed by sunshine and the pattern goes on.

As per the Division’s weather forecast for the next twenty four hours, the weather will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning are likely to occur at some places in the country with chances of heavy rainfall at one or two places of the hilly region.

Similarly, tonight the weather will be generally cloudy throughout the country with chances of light to moderate rain along with thunder and lightning at some places.

There are chances of heavy rainfall at a few places of the central and western regions.

The Division has cautioned about the possibility of a sudden rise in the flow of waters in the rivers where heavy rainfall has been predicted and urged people concerned to be watchful about it.

The Division latest updates show that Kathmandu Valley’s minimum temperature was recorded at 20.6 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was measured at 30.7 degrees Celsius.
