NUWAKOT: A woman and her son were swept away by the flooded Trishuli River from Bidur Municipality-3 of Nuwakot district on Saturday afternoon.
Sangita Shrestha, 28, and her seven-year-old son Unik were swept away by the river.
The mother tried to save the son as he was being swept away but in vain, according to Chief of Police at District Police Office, Ram Prakash Shah.
The toddler had gone to river for washing before returning home from the field near the river. The locals had informed the police about the incident.
Police have said it was difficult to search for the missing ones because the river was flooded.
Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Risal said more than 100 security persons and locals were mobilized for the search of the missing ones.
