Damauli, April 26: Under the Muglin-Pokhara Road Expansion Project, the second phase of blacktopping has begun in the Bagbazar section of Damauli Bazaar, the district headquarters of Tanahu. This phase began on Friday after the completion of the first phase of blacktopping in the same area.
The first phase had already covered the main junction of Damauli Bazaar, Safa Sadak Chowk, and Tarkari Line Chowk. According to Engineer Bishnu Prasad Pandey, blacktopping is currently ongoing in a single lane in Damauli.
While blacktopping work in other parts of the eastern section is in its final stages, delays in relocating houses and sheds in the Damauli section caused setbacks in progress. The project reports that 82.95% of the work in this section has now been completed.
Final blacktopping has been completed for 33.56 kilometers in the four-lane section and 3.2 kilometers in the two-lane section. “So far, a total of 73.11 kilometers has been blacktopped, calculated as a two-lane road,” Er Pandey stated.
The contract for the eastern section was signed on 2077 BS, and work officially began on 2078 BS. The contract for this section was awarded to China Communication Construction. Due to increasing traffic pressure on the road, which was originally designed in 2026 BS, the road is being upgraded to four lanes with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The total project work is aprox Rs 6.21 billion. #pokhara #road #nepal
