NA candidates allowed to spend up to 350 thousands

Kathmandu, Jan 14: The Election Commission (EC) has set the expenditure ceiling for the candidates in the upcoming National Assembly election scheduled to take place on coming January 25.

As per the limitations set by the EC, a candidate is allowed to spend up to 350 thousands in accordance with the Clause 65 of National Assembly Election Act-2075 BS and to Rule 46 (1) of National Assembly Election Regulations- 2076 BS.

The Commission has today announced the maximum limit that a candidate can spend in the election.

Such expenditures are allowed in getting the voter name list, for transport and fuel purchase, the management of publicity materials, seminars, interactions, mobilizations of representatives and other various headings.

In a press statement today, EC Spokesperson Shaligram Poudyal, said the expenditures should be made through a separate bank account or an account in financial institutions and its details should be presented to the Office of the Election Officer and the Election Office.

The details of election shall be made public within third days after the completion of the election as per the NA Election Act-2075 BS and the Election (Offense and Punishment), Act-2073 BS.

There are a total of 51 candidates in all seven provinces for the upper house elections going to be held to elect 19 members. The EC allocated the election symbols to the candidates on Saturday. RSS
