Kathmandu, July 10: The National Assembly (NA) members have demanded that rightful compensation be provided and a fair probe be initiated into the demise of Ganesh Nepali, a rider who died while receiving treatment in Bir Hospital after being critically hurt following self-immolation.
In today’s meeting of the NA, Padam Bahadur Pariyar pointed out the gap in humanitarian sensitivities while rushing Nepali to the hospital on Thursday.
NA Member Nar Bahadur Bista claimed that the traffic police and Kathmandu Metropolitan Police failed to perform on humanitarian grounds for the rescue of injured Nepali.
NA Members Somnath Portel and Tul Prasad Bishwakarma also drew the government’s attention regarding the same incident.
Likewise, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya asked the government to provide the facts to the House regarding the reasons behind the incident. Rokaya also urged the government to provide relief and compensation to the family of Nepali since the economic status of the Nepali family was poor.
Man Rupa Sharma said the government should be serious to avoid such incidents in the future, while Rukmini Koirala asked why the people are forced to self-immolation.
Likewise, NA Member Renu Chand said that people should not be terrorized by excessive taxes and punishment in the name of service delivery.
NA Members Puja Chaudhary, Bishnu Kumari Sapkota, Bishnu Devi Pudasaini, Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma, Shreekrishna Prasad Adhikari and Sabitri Malla asked the government to remain serious towards such cases and also initiate a fair probe regarding the causes of self-immolation.#nepal #rss
