
Kathmandu, March 9: In a meeting of the National Assembly today, the lawmakers drew the government’s attention to various contemporary issues ranging from the ongoing demonstrations of monarchists to discrimination against Dalit to aviation safety.
Airing views in a zero hour of the session, Uday Bahadur Bohora expressed his concern over ongoing public demonstrations in various cities in the country including in Kathmandu, ‘posing’ threat to the republic. He also urged the government and political parties to make corrections in their working style, focusing on elimination of mismanagement, containment of price hike and the promotion of good governance.
Gomadevi Timilsina drew the government’s attention that the Udayapur Cement Industry has been without a head for long and employees have remained unpaid for several months. Tul Prasad Bishwakarma apprised the House of ‘growing ‘cases of discrimination against the Dalits, demanding justice to survivors.
Madan Kumari Shah (Garima) urged the government to take measures for further empowerment of women while Rajendra Laxmi Gaire and Narayan Datta Mishra urged the government to address demands of agitating community school teachers. Mishra sought a wider scope regarding the rights of women and reservations for them.
Yubaraj Sharma advised political parties to focus on promoting good governance and addressing the people’s aspirations while Suresh Ale Magar echoed the need of more movement for the liberation of women.
Mohammed Khalid said the incident that a few days ago the Buddha Air’s flight landed in Kathmandu from Janakpur without a wheel really raised questions over the air safety in the country.
The case is capable of harming the tourism industry,” he said, seeking commitments from stakeholders concerned to not let the incident reoccur.
