NC presents differing views in regard with amendment to Land Bill

Kathmandu, Sept 15: The main opposition Nepali Congress has presented a differing view in regard with amendments of the Land–related (eighth amendment) Bill-2075 BS. The party registered its opinion at the National Assembly (NA) Legislation Management Committee.

NC lawmakers Jitendra Narayan Dev, Anita Devkota and Prakash Panth reached the Committee to officially register the party’s differing stand on the amendments to the bill and amendments relating to the report of the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee, House of Representatives -2076 BS.

The party has expressed concern over the Legislation Committee’s decision to add additional things in the prohibitory sentence in the Clause 12 (B) of the bill, in 1 and 2 provisions under the Clause 2 (2)’s prohibitory sentence in the report.

The amendments have come as an attack on the main spirit concerning the land ceiling in Lands Act-2021 BS (1964), the NC Parliamentary Party Office said.

Besides, the party is unhappy with the provision added later to give the Gaucharan (pasture land) on a lease for various purposes.
