Kathmandu, Oct 25: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has started blocking power supply to industries involved in the dedicated and trunk line dispute once again. The Authority began blocking power supply to industries from Thursday evening.

The Authority has cut the power lines of companies including Arghakhanchi Cement, Ghorahi Cement, Sonapur Cement, Bhalwari Automatic Rice Mill, SR Foods, Shyam Plastic, Gharana Foods, Goianka Foods, Cosmos Cement, and Baba Jute Mill.

Additionally, the power lines of Jagadamba Steel, Hulas Steel, Ashok Steel, and Hama Iron have also been cut, as reported by the Authority. These industries have to pay billions of rupees for the smooth supply of electricity while the country was reeling under heavy load shedding of nearly 18 hours a day. But the NEA provided these industries uninterrupted power supply in a higher rate than before.

Some of the industries have already settled their dues.

According to a senior official of the Authority, power has been cut for all industries except those that have started paying their outstanding dues through installment facilities and those that have received interim orders from the court.

The Authority reports that Narayan Rubber Industry, Himal Iron, Sona Polymer, Sona Packaging, Yashoda Foods, and Jaydurga Plastic Industry have begun paying their dues using the installment facility, while Maruti and Shivam Cement have obtained interim orders from the court.

Kulman Ghising, the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, stated that he had met with Energy Minister Deepak Khadka Thursday evening. He mentioned that if the power was not to be cut, a decision from the Council of Ministers would be required.

Although discussions took place regarding the proposal made by Kulman in the cabinet meeting, no decision was reached. Subsequently, he initiated the power cuts.

On Ashwin 24, the Authority published a notice urging the payment of outstanding dues, giving a deadline of Kartik 8. #NEA #power #industries
