Nepal ‘A’ concedes humiliating defeat,  Ireland thrashes Nepal by 114 runs



Kathmandu, April 5:  In the second one-day match, Nepal A cricket team suffered a humiliating defeat against Ireland A. Nepal was defeated by 114 runs in the match played at TU ground in Kirtipur today.

Along with this, Ireland A has managed to win the three-match series. Ireland has won two matches consecutively.

Chasing a modest target of 175 runs, Nepal A was bowled out for 60 runs in 16.5 overs. Nepal’s Bhim Sharki scored the highest 17 runs. Binod Bhandari added 16 runs. Nine players from Nepal could not score double figures.

Ireland’s Matthew Humphreys took 6 wickets. Tom Mayes and Fionn Hand took 2-2 wickets each.

After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Ireland were bowled out for 174 runs in 38.4 overs.

Ireland’s Gavin Hoey scored the highest 50 runs off 59 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Neil Rock added 45 runs while Liam McCarthy added 35 runs. Peter Joseph Moore was dismissed for 17 runs.

On the bowling side, Nepal’s Shahab Alam and Rijan Dhakal took 3 wickets each. Similarly, Mausam Dhakal took 2 wickets and Kamal Singh Airee took 1 wicket.
