Kathmandu, Oct 22: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has called for tenders for purchasing three short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft.

The national flag-carrier stated that a call for tenders has been made for the procurement of three planes for operating flights in the remote areas.

NAC is in the process of buying three Twin-otter planes for this purpose. It is said the NAC is purchasing these aircraft through its internal resources.

The Corporation has published a notice for international competitive bidding for the purchase of three STOL aircraft in the Rising Nepal.

NAC currently has only two Twin-otter aircraft for operating flights in the domestic sector.

The Minister of Civil Aviation Sudan Kiranti has repeatedly said that the government will be buying 10 smaller aircraft for flights in remote hilly regions, and to maintain fares in the market.
