Nepal Army deactivates suspicious object in New Baneshwor (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army has defused a suspicious object found on the road in front of the parliament building in New Baneshwor on Monday. A pressure cooker with “NO-MCC” written on the wire was placed on the road.

Police had secured the area after finding the suspicious item. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that there was no suspected bomb. The Nepal Army, which came to deactivate the suspicious pressure cooker, said that only bricks, paper and plastic were found inside the cooker.

The Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chanda ‘Biplav’, Mohan Bikram Singh-led Communist Party of Nepal (Masal) and Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’ have called for a nationwide strike today in protest of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact that was endorsed by the parliament on Sunday evening.
