Nepal–Bangladesh Trade: Imports worth Rs 4.75 billion, Exports only Rs 350 million

Bhadrapur, June 4: By the end of Baisakh in the current fiscal year 2081/82, goods worth Rs 4.75 billion were imported from Bangladesh via Kakarbhitta, while Nepal’s exports to Bangladesh amounted to just Rs 350 million.

According to Subas Pandey, Chief of the Kakarbhitta Branch of Nepal Transit and Warehousing Management Company Ltd, the highest import from Bangladesh was raw jute, worth around Rs 1.78 billion.

Other major imports included batteries, poultry feed supplements, cosmetic items, hydrogen peroxide, jute yarn, electrical equipment, medicines, potatoes, paper, glass, and food and beverages.

From Nepal’s side, the largest export to Bangladesh was crude herbs (Khudo), worth Rs 302 million. Other exported items included medicinal herbs, animal feed, and household goods, Pandey added. #trade #nepal #bangladesh
